Priest - Cyberhead OUT NOW!

Overall pretty pleased with this, given the shake-up. Decay had some beautiful moments, Star Maker is unusually uplifting yet still Priest-like, and Beacon of Light has become one of my favorite Priest songs, just below the likes of Obey or Call My Name.

nocturnal-ace

F-ing perfection, listening to this gluttonously, on repeat, worshipping Priest's existence with overwhelming gratitude. Did I mention I love them?! Been devoted since the beginning, and they only ever successfully feed my soul with their synthy cyberpunk domination. *breathless, spins the record again*

Indestructible is a banger.

MondayMusicTherapy

I am really not feeling this album. A couple of tracks sound like Imagine Dragons to me, and for me, that sounds like cookie cutter music. I really was excited for this to drop, but I just can't get into it.

nielallein

This. It has some okay moments and bits here and there, but as a whole it's so flat and soulless. The constant use of heavily filtered vocals is so ugh, and I've noticed that the quality of the lyrics has dramatically declined. The lyrics are one of my absolute favorite things about NF and Obey -- amazingly written! *sigh* I really, really wish "Priest 1.0" wouldn't have broken up.

MondayMusicTherapy

Agreed whole heartedly my friend!

totaljunkrat

I'm with you. I think that New Flesh is a great album from start to finish. This album I can't get into at all. There is in fact not a single track I like. But you can't write bad reviews online, because people take criticism as personal insults and throw real personal insults at you It's all okay to praise something, but if you criticize or dislike something, you're a hating basement dweller. Interesting how things works.

MondayMusicTherapy

I'm with right there with you.

Kinda in love with Star Maker

rmy401

I like it too, but I cant be mistaken its about: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heaven%27s_Gate_(religious_group)

LifeEternal666

Love it, very catchy album.

BleaKrytE

While I prefer the heavier, darker tone and beat of New Flesh or Obey (Ceremony is awesome), I like this album overall. Not all the songs are to my liking and I found a few to be quite average, but not bad at all. I get the criticism about the band following a pop-ier sound, but I don't think that necessarily detracts from the music. Not my favorite album, but still good, I'll give it a few more listens, I have the feeling it'll grow on me.

Killer stuff. I'm a new fan (last year and a half). Who was the singer that sang the cross? Obviously changed shoes but I'd like to know his name because I loved his voice.

nocturnal-ace

Tom Åsberg was the original Mercury, the singer for the first album New Flesh and EP Obey. His voice is unreal on The Cross, I agree! Linton Rubino has stepped forward as the new voice of Priest, for Cyberhead. Personally, I believe both of their voices perfectly serve the contrasting realms/soundscapes of the different albums. I love them both. But I certainly miss Tom's unique sound...This is Tom Åsberg's latest project, if you want to catch a glimpse of his beautiful voice 😊 There is a great music video too! Oh my goodness! I had not heard this! Just listened to the entire album, SO GOOD! Thank you ☺️

Bigd1979666

Thank you so much!

Apolonioquiosco

I got used to Linton but the songs aren't doing anything for me. I love both New Flesh and Obey from beggining to end. But the only song I actually love from this one is Thieves and kinda enjoy Dead Ringer but the others are just meh. Was anyone else changed? It's like this was composed by someone different.

nielallein

I listened to the whole album earlier this week and can now confidentially confirm that I don't like it. Alex and Tom were obviously an integral part.
